Welcome to this episode of Mortgage Motivation. Today I have with me Taylor Berner of Manual Builders. We have a super excited event coming up Parade of Homes. But before we go into Parade I just want to let you guys know I had the opportunity to hear Taylor speak last week in Las Vegas at the International Builder Show in front of thousands. Just amazing event.
Speaker 2:I don't even know know what was the attendance of the event I want to say it was like over 70 000 maybe at the the whole event.
Speaker 1:Right, I read I could be wrong, yeah but just an amazing event and to have our very own from here in acadiana at manual builders speak at such an event was such an honor. Thank you so much for your efforts and your leadership and your guidance and your partnership. We love working with you guys at Manual, and Taylor is the lead of the sales department on the custom division, where you can build on your own lot. You can go in, pick your plan, bring your plan. But today I have him here on a personal level because we had the opportunity to assist him with building his own home, which will currently be in the upcoming parade. So tell me a little bit about the process. You know, I know I don't like doing my own mortgage. How was it building your own home?
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's been interesting so far. We actually have three current employees that are building all at the same time and we're all in very different positions, so we're seeing from the client perspective how these things actually work. So everything before it got into the field is what I do on a regular basis. So that stuff I handled myself. I was in the nitty gritty, I was going through the plans, I was, you know, working my outlets and like I was doing all that stuff myself and that was easy. And then when it got released into production is the things I'm not used to and I got to just experience it as a client and, honestly, it's been great.
Speaker 2:Mendel Monroe is our superintendent and he has been phenomenal. Every Friday we get updates. Every Friday afternoon he sends us a text of everything that happened that week and we can go look at it over the weekend and any questions that we have. And then, like I said, we have two other employees building right now. That one is our operations manager and one is a superintendent. So they got to see from the client perspective, that pre-production piece that they don't normally see and feel that as a client. So it's been really good from a quality control perspective for us to say what do our people go through on a daily basis and how can we make it better for them?
Speaker 1:Because we just experienced it, yeah, and I know that was a tough decision. I know you and Meg prayed on it quite a bit before y'all made the jump and I want to thank y'all for choosing us here at GMFS to take care and be on that journey with you guys, and we're excited to assist with the parade. And so tell us about the house square footage. Where is it located? When can we get in?
Speaker 2:We want to know all the deets. Give us all the details. Yeah, so we have. I think we have three houses going in the parade. We have two custom on your lots. One is in Scott and the other is in Youngsville, which is mine. I say Youngsville, I think I'm just lying to myself. It's a Youngsville address. It is closer to Abbeville than it is Youngsville, but it's off of 82, heading towards Abbeville, close to the one long bridge, for anybody that knows that area. And it is a four bed, three full bath. It has a bonus room upstairs with a little office, outdoor kitchen, outdoor living space. That's right at 3000 square feet. We put some really cool features in there that I think people are really going to like.
Speaker 1:What's the wow factor? I?
Speaker 2:think if you're asking me, it's going to be a different answer than if you're asking Megan.
Speaker 1:I was about to ask you the same thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, my office and the outdoor space is probably my two favorite places. She has said multiple times, multiple different people the dining room is her favorite space. She has light fixtures she likes and the wainscoting she likes and all the colors and the big windows, and you know. So we each have different favorite spaces in the house. The kids, obviously, the bonus room is their favorite space.
Speaker 1:So I was going to ask have the children picked out their own colors in their room? And how's how's Henry, how's how's the crew feeling about their new house?
Speaker 2:Yeah, so they. They did pick out their own rooms and there was surprisingly not a fight about who got what room oh, wow agreed right out the gate. They did not pick their own colors, which they were a little upset about, but I couldn't go into the parade with pink and purple bedrooms, so we're just gonna make sure that they get to pick out their own bedding and curtains and stuff like that awesome.
Speaker 1:Well, I cannot wait to visit you and meg and um sit down at that table and have that meal in that beautiful dining room that you have. What's the address of the home?
Speaker 2:It is 5312 Belvedere East Boulevard in Youngsville.
Speaker 1:And the purpose of visiting this home is so that you can see the finished product. If you're interested in building on your own lot, taylor and them are available to assist. They will be on site. They will have building consultants there during the parade. Who can, you know, set those appointments up for you and walk you through that process of building your own home? So April 13th is the start of the parade and the doors open at, I think, one o'clock. I'm not 100% sure We'll have Adrian in here later giving us all the deets on that, but you can definitely get a ticket at ahbacom. Manual Builder will have three homes in the parade, definitely showstoppers. And again, taylor, I can't thank you enough. One for your friendship, your partnership and thank you for allowing us to be there with you at such a special time and on this journey with you and your family.
Speaker 2:Yeah, thank you for taking care of us.
Speaker 1:You're welcome. Have a great one.
